Implementation of the National Policy for the Empowerment of Women State
government have constituted the State Level Council for
implementation of national/ State policy for Empowerment
of Women 2001. A Core Committee under the Chairmanship
of Smt. T. Phanbuh NGO, representatives of various NGOs,
Social Activists, Social Welfare Officials and other
Government related Departments formulated the State
Action Plan/ Policy for Empowerment of Women. The State
Action Plan on the State Policy for Empowerment of Women
was released on 8th march, 2004 by the State
Chief Secretary Shri. P.J. Bazeley Government of
Meghalaya on the occasion of International Women’s
Day.
