Child Welfare : State Schemes

1. Creche for State Government Employees’ Children

Indian Council for Social Welfare an located at Lachumiere runs a Creche
Indian Council for Child Welfare an NGO located at Lachumiere runs a Creche for the benefit of the State Govt. Employees’ children covering 30 nos. of beneficiaries. The Social Welfare Department provides financial assistance to the NGO in the form of grants-in-aid.

2. Grant-in-aid to NGO's for services of children in need of care and protection

Children in need of care and protection

Financial assistance is given to voluntary organizations working for the welfare and development of children in rural areas like crèches, orphanages etc. The department also motivates the non-governmental organizations to take up other schemes such as foster care, adoption services.

National Creche Scheme

The National Creche Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The Creches provides group care to children, usually up to 6 years of age, who need care, guidance and supervision away from home during the day while the parents are at work.

Objectives

  1. To provide day-care facilities for children (6 months to 6 years) of working mothers in the community.
  2. To improve nutrition and health status of children.
  3. To provide physical, cognitive, social and emotional development (Holistic  Development) of children.
  4. To educate and empower parents/ caregivers for better childcare.

Services
The Scheme will provide an integrated package of the following services

  1. Daycare Facilities including Sleeping Facilities.
  2. Early Stimulation for children below 3 years and Pre-School Education for 3 to 6 year old children.
  3. Supplementary Nutrition (to be locally sourced)
  4. Growth Monitoring
  5. Health Check-up and Immunization.
